Buchanan Street Underground Station

Exiting Buchanan Street Station at the top entrance, looking up you will see The Royal Concert Hall with its big TV screen looking down upon Donald Dewar. If you turn your head to the left, it used to be that you would find The Gallery, a pub you may recall as The Dow Jones or The Pig & Whistle. There wasn’t anything startling about this pub but it was one of the places to hit on a Saturday night if Glaswegian karaoke was your thing.

It wasn’t the most luxurious of pubs but you used to be able to get a decent pint and as it was the last stop of the Subcrawl for many folk, there was a real sense of achievement in reaching here.

However, developments to the shopping areas in Buchanan Street has seen this pub torn down to make way for more shops, resulting in Subcrawlers to look for somewhere else.

Other exits from the station open up other pubs with Dow’s and The Vale being situated at the Queen Street exit of Buchanan Street Underground Station. There is much of a muchness about these two pubs but in their favour we will say that they are not The Gallery so you may want to think about making your exit with this in mind.
