Ibrox Underground

Any pub that had the title of The Stadium waslikely to be situated close to a football ground and you won’t be surprised to hear that this stop-off is only a couple of minutes walk away from Rangers home ground, Ibrox Stadium.

We’ve already hinted at the turmoil that has swept around Rangers and their fans and there has been some upheaval at the Ibrox Subway stop as well. For many years, The Stadium Bar was the main stop for Subcrawlers but there has been a change of ownership in 2012!

It used to be that while The Stadium Bar was a big Rangers bar when games were on, it was a fairly neutral pub for local residents at all other times.

This is no longer the case though as the owners of the Louden Bar, have snapped up the venue.

This is very much a Rangers pub but the renovation work is still on-going at the point of checking!

If you are planning a Subcrawl, make sure you have a look at the fixture list to ensure that Rangers are not home on the given date. It will just make your day go a lot easier without having to fight through the football traffic along the way.

You will also want to check out the opening hours because at the last time of checking, the pub was only opened to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.

As it is capable of hosting football fans on match days, it won’t surprise you to hear this pub is a rather large pub that on non match days can be rather roomy. This means there will be plenty of space to stretch out and grab a seat but be sure to indulge in some chat with the locals. There is a bookies right next door to the pub and a rolls / newsagent / chip shop across the road if you are in need of a food-stop or you wish to place a bet on who won’t survive the rest of the day out.

One of the best things about this pub is that it is directly across the road from the Ibrox subway stop ensuring it is a simple jump across the road when you are moving on. Moving on from Ibrox takes you to the last stop on the South side….and to a place you are probably well aware of.
