What A Life!

At Get Around Glasgow, we try and promote local bands and give a heads up to music that we like. This time next week, on Monday the 20th of October, local band Haight Ashbury will be supporting Young Marble Giants in Stereo. This is two acts we love and you can read our interview with the Glasgow act here. This week is also set to see the latest in the Bloc+ Music label releases (expected to be placed on Bandcamp on Wednesday the 15th of October), and if it is anything like the previous one released a few weeks ago, it will be a cracker.

However, there are times when we get quite excited about some of the bigger names that come to the city and the Hydro should ensure that we get plenty of big name acts (not that we ever really struggled in the grand scheme of things). Now that Still Game have had their way with the venue, it is back on offer to a wide range of acts and we are delighted to see that Noel Gallagher, and those High Flying Birds of his, will be returning to Glasgow on Saturday the 7th of March 2015 for a night at the Hydro.

Noel Gallagher Hydro

Noel is doing a quick UK tour to promote the album which is released at the start of that week and will be his first gig in the city since his February 2012 set at the SECC. 9 of the 20 tracks played that night were Oasis songs, so if you still prefer his band work as opposed to his solo stuff, you should have plenty to look forward to. Given that the new album will be just out, you wouldn’t expect him to overload the set with new songs, so there should be a decent mix to look forward.

The tickets go on sale on Friday morning from the usual suspects.

The lead single, In The Heat Of The Moment from the new album Chasing Yesterday can be heard here:

While we’re quite looking forward to the album and live show, you can bet that friend of the site Andy Reilly will have already marked the date of the gig into his 2015 Noel Gallagher diary. Andy occasionally helps us out with music chat and he has released a book about Oasis and their Definitely Maybe album, which celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier this year. Yeah, he’s that old!
