Bridge Street Underground

There was a spell when the Laurieston was the only game in town for Subcrawlers when The Glaswegian was closed down for numerous licensing issues. There is a new pub, which appears to cater for most of the former punters, in The Waterfront but The Laurieston has definitely moved ahead as the pub of choice for Subcrawlers.

Both of these pubs are in close proximity to each other and you can see both as you make your way out of the Bridge Street Underground. Whatever one you choose will be fine but The Laurieston has the edge.

Exiting Bridge Street underground, the O2 Academy gig venue is on the left hand side but turning to your right, will provide a view of The Laurieston across the road. The outside of The Laurieston is quite charming and quaint, looking somewhat out of sync with the rest of the surroundings.

A lounge and a bar gives you two options for your stop at Bridge Street on the Glasgow underground but this wide variety isn’t extended to the choice of drinks available. Glasgow loves its alcohol but for many, the choice of McEwans or Tennents isn’t too appealing.

However, if you’re starting at St Enoch’s, you haven’t travelled too far and a cheeky local pint isn’t a bad way to continue proceedings.

From the outside it may not look too appealing but the staff and service within this bar is of a great standard and they are especially happy to see Subcrawlers come in. As always, if you go about looking for trouble, you will find it but The Laurieston is definitely a pub where you will see the much vaunted Glasgow friendliness on show.
